Industrial Hygiene Manager

A mid-senior role to deliver short and long-term consulting and staff augmentation engagements.

THE ROLE

Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Industrial Hygiene: The Industrial Hygiene Manager will deliver short and long-term consulting and staff augmentation engagements. This individual will have a strong understanding of industrial hygiene concepts, issues, and challenges and will be able to identify unmet issues and opportunities with resolutions for current and new clients while ensuring the highest level of satisfaction.

Essential responsibilities and duties include:

  • Apply understanding of exposure control methods
  • Various air sampling, noise monitoring, local exhaust ventilation testing
  • Equipment calibration
  • Effectively communicate to Project Manager(s) on project status and any needs

Required qualifications:

  • BS or BA in an Applied Science, Public Health or Environmental Science, Master’s Degree highly desired
  • Licensing/certifications including CIH, CHMM, or other technical designation preferred
  • 5-7 years experience in the areas of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety
  • Understands the key objectives of industrial hygiene and the applicability to regulatory requirements established by OSHA
  • Ability to research and learn sampling and analytical methodology
  • Versatility and the ability to think critically and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong data comprehension, able to grasp a broad scope of applied sciences – either developed through STEM education or relevant work experience
  • Competency with MS Excel
  • Travel into New York City and the surrounding metro area is frequently required
  • Work schedule and location vary based on clients’ needs. As with most consultancies, evening, overnight, weekend, and on-call hours are occasionally required.

A senior-level role responsible for mitigating risks, identifying liability exposures, and overseeing EHS programs for large-scale construction and remediation projects.

THE ROLE

Construction Risk Manager: This is a senior-level role responsible for mitigating risks, identifying liability exposures, and overseeing EHS programs for large-scale construction and remediation projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage communications and project administration, including deliverable quality assurance and quality control reviews, project budgets, invoicing, and schedule maintenance
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and assessments and recommend policies and procedures to ensure our client’s safety and that compliance goals are met
  • Analyze all policies, insurable risks, and potential risk mitigation opportunities to verify coordination between project activities, exposures, and appropriate insurance coverage
  • Provide onsite guidance and assistance to employees to achieve optimum health and safety performance
  • Prepare and present training as required by client’s written program and regulatory requirements

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work, and the following qualifications:

  • A BS/MS degree in EHS Studies, Engineering, Science, or any STEM field
  • 7+ years of work experience with environmental compliance regulations pertaining to air, water, & waste; construction safety; and industrial hygiene
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and project management skills
  • A current CIH, CSP, SSM, CPEA, or CHST certification
  • Current OSHA 30-Hr & 40-Hr certifications
  • Experience with safety oversight for MTA Bridges and/or Tunnels preferred, including risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures
  • Experience training in EHS topics, such as Hazard Communication, Waste Management, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Working knowledge of health and safety hazards associated with various environmental and construction-related activities, such as working around heavy machinery; excavation and trenching; electrical and mechanical systems; tools; crane rigging/lifting; heat stress; confined spaces; elevated work; hazardous and toxic contaminants; flammable and combustible materials; demolitions; hot work; etc.
  • Proven track record in successful project execution and client satisfaction with a solid grasp of the technical and business aspects of project management
  • Willing to travel (in and out of state) and work evenings and weekends as projects require
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and be able to wear respiratory protection
  • Ability to climb ladders, navigate crawl spaces, lift/carry up to 50lbs of equipment, and stand for long periods of time

SDS Author

An experienced EHS Technician responsible for providing technical support to one of our largest pharmaceutical accounts.

THE ROLE

SDS Author: This is a role for an experienced EHS Technician. The SDS Author will be responsible for providing technical support to one of the largest pharmaceutical accounts and generate SDSs from beginning to end, using authoring software to support our client with various aspects of Hazard Communications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Classify, author, and distribute complex SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
  • Manage JIRA and ITAC updates and revisions
  • Enter and maintain hazard assessment, toxicological, environmental, and regulatory data into product compliance support and SDS authoring systems
  • Obtain and maintain regulatory and compositional information from raw material suppliers, contract blenders, and the business
  • System (GHS) classification and labeling information on materials
  • Review and update vendor MSDS / SDS and hazard chemical lists
  • Perform process checks to ensure MSDS / SDS are being filed properly and on-time
  • Ensure updated or obsolete MSDS / SDS are filed properly
  • Assist with customer requests for MSDS / SDS and labeling
  • QC data entry and junior author work

Construction Site Health & Safety Officer

A mid-level technical and consulting role responsible for the enforcement of our clients’ Health and Safety Plans and for providing safety oversight and support to large-scale construction projects.

THE ROLE

Construction Site Health and Safety Officer: This is a mid-level role involving technical support, safety training, and business development. The Construction Site HSO is responsible for the enforcement of our clients’ Health and Safety Plans and for providing safety oversight and support to large-scale construction and remediation projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide health and safety oversight on a variety of small-scale and large-scale environmental remediation and construction projects.
  • Ensure the maximum safety performance and awareness of everyone associated with the project (laborers, contractors, vendors, etc.) by following and enforcing our clients’ Health and Safety Plan.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations using Incident Coordinator in SAFE-IM system.
  • Work collaboratively with senior team members and client safety personnel to recognize and correct unsafe behavior and conditions on-site.
  • Implement Contractor Safety Program by reviewing our client’s Job Hazard Analysis and Daily Pre-task Plan, conducting project and vendor audits, and delivering contractor safety orientations.
  • Provide support and oversight, including routine audits and training to client’s Safe Work Permit Program.
  • Generate and update daily activity reports.

Job Requirements

  • Experience training EHS topics, such as Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Confined Space Entry, HazWoper Refresher, Site Supervisor, Biohazards & Bloodborne Pathogens, RCRA, Forklift, Electrical Safety, DOT/IATA, TSCA, Trenching & Excavation, SPP, SCBA, Emergency Spill Response Awareness, etc.
  • Experience conducting PPE Assessments: Area Audits, Hazard Review and Communication, Machine/Robotic Guarding Assessments, etc.
  • Understanding of safety and health laws, regulations, OSHA standards
