Environmental Health & Safety Project Manager

Emilcott Associates is a mid-size firm with a dynamic crew of professional consultants who tackle a wide variety of project work. THE ROLE

Environmental Health & Safety Project Manager: This is a mid-level role in our Environmental Compliance Group with an opportunity for career advancement and requires a high level of professionalism and the appropriate educational background and technical expertise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage NJ/NY client base with communications and project administration, including deliverable quality assurance and quality control reviews, project budgets, invoicing, and schedule maintenance
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals and quotes and manage staff allocation
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and assessments and recommend policies and procedures to ensure our client’s safety and that compliance goals are met
  • Prepare and present training as needed
  • Assist in coaching and technical development of junior staff

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work, and the following qualifications:

  • A BS/MS degree in EHS Studies, Engineering, Science, or any STEM field
  • 5-7 years of consulting experience working with New Jersey environmental compliance regulations (OSHA, EPA, NJDEP, and other relevant regulations pertaining to Air, Water, and Waste) and Industrial Hygiene
  • Proven track record in successful project execution and client satisfaction with a solid grasp of the technical and business aspects of project management
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A current CIH, CSP, CHMM, CPEA, or CDGAP certification or the ability to earn one within one year of start date
  • Willing to travel (in and out of state) and work evenings and weekends as projects require
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and be able to wear respiratory protection
  • Ability to climb ladders, navigate crawl spaces, lift/carry up to 50lbs of equipment, and stand for long periods of time
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

THE ROLE

Environmental Health & Safety Consultant: This is a junior role with exposure to diverse and technically challenging projects, including: Environmental Monitoring; Construction, Remediation, and Hazardous Waste oversight; Industrial Hygiene projects.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work, and the following qualifications:

  • A positive, motivating attitude
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field
  • 1-2 years of experience in EHS consulting
  • Willing to complete OSHA 40-hour training
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork as required
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various client sites
  • Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work successfully with a diverse range of people
  • Flexible days/hours to meet the needs of the project if needed
  • Willing to travel (in and out of state)
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Construction Site Health and Safety Officer

THE ROLE

Construction Site Health and Safety Officer: This is a consultant role responsible for the enforcement of our clients’ Health and Safety Plans and for providing safety oversight and support to large-scale construction projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide health and safety oversight on a variety of small-scale and large-scale environmental remediation and construction projects.
  • Ensure the maximum safety performance and awareness of everyone associated with the project (laborers, contractors, vendors, etc.) by following and enforcing our clients’ Health and Safety Plan.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations using Incident Coordinator in SAFE-IM system.
  • Work collaboratively with senior team members and client safety personnel to recognize and correct unsafe behavior and conditions on-site.
  • Implement Contractor Safety Program by reviewing our client’s Job Hazard Analysis and Daily Pre-task Plan, conducting project and vendor audits, and delivering contractor safety orientations.
  • Provide support and oversight, including routine audits and training to client’s Safe Work Permit Program.
  • Generate and update daily activity reports.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate is a self-directed, results-oriented individual with a high level of enthusiasm, passion for the work, and the following qualifications:

  • A positive, motivating attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work successfully with a diverse range of people
  • 1-3 years of work experience in construction safety
  • Experience performing regular safety inspections of sites and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience in Emergency Response situations (injuries, spills, etc.).
  • Experience training EHS topics, such as Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene Plan, Bloodborne Pathogens, Respirator Use, RTK-Lab Standard, Waste Management, etc.
  • Experience conducting PPE Assessments: Area Audits, Hazard Review and Communication, Machine/Robotic Guarding Assessments, etc.
  • Understanding of safety and health laws, regulations, OSHA standards
  • Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Flexible days/hours to meet the needs as projects require
  • Willing to travel (in and out of state)
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • A wiliness to work outdoors at all times of the year
  • Ability to climb ladders, navigate crawl spaces, lift/carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment, and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and be able to wear respiratory protection
